Alfred A. D’Andrea focuses his practice on patent litigation relating to pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and consumer electronics (including Hatch-Waxman litigation and litigation under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA)); post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Office; patent analysis and counseling; preparing non-infringement, invalidity, and other intellectual property analyses and opinions; preparing and prosecuting patent applications and developing portfolios in various technologies; and IP due diligence.

The technologies Al works with include: pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, genetic, and cosmetic materials and processes; electronics (such as cellular technology, processors and microprocessors, liquid crystal displays, digital cameras, printers, and other electronic devices); medical devices (such as robotics, implant methods, and surgical materials); semiconductor structures and materials; optics; and metallurgical systems and materials.

Prior to practicing law, Al worked as a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent Office and served as law clerk to Hon. Joseph V. Colaianni in the US Court of Claims. Before joining the firm, Al practiced IP law at several other major global law firms.


Mr. D'Andrea is not an employee of Theodora Oringher. As Of Counsel to the Firm, he is an independent attorney with a separate law practice that handles matters and clients having no affiliation with the firm, who also works on certain specific matters for the firm on a contract and case by case basis.
